How to Use Acupressure Points for Neck Pain

Long hours in front of the computer can make your neck ache and feel tense. But you can find relief through acupressure. This technique uses the same philosophy as acupuncture, where a technician inserts a needle into certain pressure points, relieving pain and other symptoms. You can use those same points to find relief through acupressure. Simply apply pressure to the right pressure points and your neck pain will soon subside.

1

Relieve neck pain by finding a pressure point in your neck and shoulder area. This point is found by moving your finger from your shoulder towards your neck until you reach a depression. Apply pressure to this point and turn your head to see if you feel relief. This point is also useful for treating headaches, dizziness, shoulder tension and stress.

2

Find another pressure point on your hand for additional relief, or if you don't feel relief from the first pressure point. This point is located on the outside of your hand just below your pinky finger. Run your finger up the outside of your hand until you feel a depression, which is where this point is located. Pressure applied to this point eases neck pain and treats headaches, earaches and ringing in the ears.

3

Massage one or both of these points for three to five minutes, or until you feel relief. Use the tip of your finger, your knuckle or the eraser end of a pencil for best results.
